He was an ex-retainer of Kaga clan (Ishikawa Prefecture). He owned several kilns in Kanazawa where more than 80 craftsmen worked under him. His wares soon became famous both at home and abroad (1870). Later due to some unforeseen circumstances he had to give up his business, but he still retained his workmen in the hope of resuming work again. His last days were spent in adversity.
