Chairman Convention of Episcopal Clergyman, New Haven, Connecticut, 1776, decided to suspend all public worship to avoid reading prayer for king. Secretary secret meeting to organize Episcopal Church in Connecticut, Woodbridge, 1783, also decided to send Samuel Seabury to England to be consecrated bishop of Connecticut.
Elected to succeed Seabury, 1797, consecrated bishop of Connecticut at Trinity Church, New Haven, 1797.
