Lathem, Abraham Lance was born on May 26, 1866 in Hanover Township, 30 miles west of Pittsburgh. Son of Robert and Eliza (Lance) Lathem.

Bachelor of Arts, Washington and Jefferson College, 1890, Doctor of Divinity, 1915. Student Western Theological Seminary, Allegheny, Pennsylvania, 1891. Graduate Princeton Theological Seminary, 1893.

Doctor of Philosophy, Wooster U. (now Wooster, College), 1901.

Career

Ordained to ministry Presbyterian Church, 1893. Pastor Martinsburg and Duncansville chs., Blair County, Pennsylvania, 1893-1895, N. 10th Street Church, Philadelphia, 1895-1904, 3d Church, Chester, Pennsylvania, 1904-1939. Organized Bible Presbyterian Church of Chester (unaffiliated), 1939, and has since been pastor.

Professor pastoral theology Faith Theological Seminary, Wilmington, Delaware, since 1937. Started summer Bible School movement in Chester, Pennsylvania, 1911, which has extended through United States and into foreign countries. President and director Summer Bible School Association.
