ALIKHANOV, Abram was born in 1904.
1931 graduated Leningrad Polytechn. Institute.
Specialist in nuclear physics and cosmic radiation. 1934-1937 was first to study basic positron formation laws by means of gamma-rays. Investigated problems of beta-decay study.
With his brother A. I. Alikhanyan started systematic research on bcta-spcctra of synthetic radioactive elements. During World War II set up a laboratory in Armenian where he developed a new method of studying the composition and energy spectrum of cosmic rays. 1946 with A. I. Alikhanyan made a large spectrometer for studying the mass spectrum of particles in cosmic radiation.
1949 put into operation the first Soviet reactor with a heavy water inhibitor. One of the designers of the first Soviet atomic bomb. Since 1927 at Physicotechnical Institute, USSR Academy of Science.
