Professor, Moscow Institute of Fine Chemical Technology Applied electron theory of atomic structure to organic chemistry. Helped found Soviet chemico-pharmaceutical industry.
Devised industry means of producing various drugs and aromatic synthetic compounds (albichthole, atophan, novocaine, dionine, coumarin, saiodine, etc), enabling Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics to end imports of these products. Demonstrated that the value of the thermal effects contributed to the general energetic balance of a chemical reaction by the individual chemical elements is a periodic function of their atomic number.
