Pastor Purity Church, Chester, later First Church, Spartanburg, South Carolina., until 1922, First Church, Wilmington, North Carolina, 1922-1941, retired 1941. Chairman War Camp Community Service for Camp Wadsworth, South Carolina., World War. Moderator Synod of North Carolina, 1931, chairman work committee, since 1928.

Chairman ad interim commission on revision of Directory of Worship and Optional Forms, General Assembly. Chairman General Assembly Stewardship Com. Trustee Presbyterian College of South Carolina., Flora McDonald College (North Carolina), Peace Institute (North Carolina).
