Career
He was especially important in the field of trigonometry. He described more than 240 stars. He is the author of a very large compendium on spherical astronomy and astronomical instruments (sundials, astrolabes) entitled ami’ al-mabadi" wa"l-ghayat.
He wrote this treatise in Cairo.
lieutenant was translated into French by J. J. Sedillot in 1834. He also the author of Kitab al-Kotua al-Makhrutia (conic sections).
