He is also a writer and a civil engineer Hayat was an executive engineer of Dhaka WASA. He has acted in over 1000 television dramas. His first acted television drama was Oedipus in 1969.
As of February 2015, Hayat has written 23 books in total.
He wrote his first book Trishnar Shanti in 1989.
