Career
Ingram has fought the Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley constituency in all four Scottish Parliament elections. He lost out in the first three elections to Labour"s Cathy Jamieson but was elected as a list Managing Successful Programmes for the South of Scotland region each time in 1999, 2003 and 2007. An economist before becoming a parliamentarian, he previously was the Scottish National Party"s national organiser.
He was a shadow deputy minister from 2000 onwards, with responsibility for Children and Early Education from 2004.
After the Scottish National Party formed a minority government in 2007, Ingram was the Scottish Government"s Minister for Children and Early Years until 2011.
