Adel Gad was born on the 26th of August 1934 in Mehalla Elkobra, Gharbia, Egypt; the son of Ali Gad and Wafika Eldakkak.

Adel received a degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Cairo University in 1957. In 1962, Adel Gad graduated from Cairo University with a Master of Science degree. He received a degree of Doctor of Philosophy from the University of London in 1967.
From 1958-1971 Adel Gad worked as a Senior house officer, lecturer, senior lecturer at Cairo University Hospital. Adel Gad was a Research assistant, fellow of the Imperial Cancer Research Fund, London, 1964-1971. Also from 1971-1972, he held a position of a Registrar at Queen Charlotte's Maternity Hospital.
A. Gad served as a Senior registrar, tutor at Royal Postgraduate Medical School-Hammersmith Hospital, 1972-1975. He was a Consultant, head of department at Falun (Sweden) Hospital, 1975-1995. Also he served as the Cultural attaché at Egyptian Embassy, London, 1969-1970. From 1979-1995 Adel Gad worked as a Director of Pathology department at Huddinge University Hospital. Since 1995 he is a Consultant, head of histopathology division, associate professor at Huddinge University Hospital, Stockholm.
He is a member of Kopparberg County Council, Sweden, since 1985; member of European Group for Breast Cancer Screening (founder), European Duodenal Club (editorial secretary).
Adel is married to Agneta Berg on November 30, 1969 and has a son and a daughter.
