Career
Born in Safi in Morocco in 1932, Nahmias made aliyah to Israel in 1951. Between 1962 and 1973 he served as secretary of Safed Workers Council, and between 1973 and 1983 served as the city"s mayor. In 1981 he was elected to the Knesset on the Alignment list.
He was re-elected in 1984, and was appointed Deputy Speaker.
He lost his seat in the 1988 elections. He died in 1998 at the age of 66.
