He has been a full international for FIFA since 2010. He refereed some matches in AFC Champions League. During a group match between Singapore and Malaysia at the 2014 AFF Championship Ahmed Al-Kaf caused controversy by awarding a disputed penalty kick in final minutes of the game, leading to Malaysia beating Singapore.
In the afthermath of the game Singaporean fans causesed disturbances out of frustration at the match officials.
