AIizawa Shigeaki was born in Yokohama, Japan.
He started serving as a railway worked soon after finishing his grade school education.
In 1948 he became central executive committee member of the National Railway Workers, Union, and in 1952 - vice-chairman of the union’s central executive committee. He was discharged from the National Railway Corporation in 1952 on ground that he was responsible for starting an abortive workers in that year. He was nominated year-end allowance struggle of the railway. He was a Vice President of the General Council of Trade Unions of Japan (Sohyo). He headed a delegation of Japanese trade unionists to Europe in 1954, at the invitation of the French Federation of Labor.
