Career
He joined the Nihon Yusen Kaisha (NYK Line) in 1896 and then the Mitsui Mining Company. When a miners' strike occurred in 1905, he successfully settled it by persuading labor bosses to transfer 2,000 miners under the direct management of the Mitsui Company. In 1907, he joined the South Manchuria Railway Company in an advisory capacity. Established in 1909 in Manchuria the Fukusho Kongsu, a contracting company for loading and unloading. Connected with many other enterprises, he became one of the most'influential businessmen in Manchuria.
