Background
Aiseki Noro was a native of Kii Province (Wakayama Prefecture).

Although he studied painting under Kaiseki Noro, he was attracted by the style of Taiga Ike and became a distinguished landscape painter. He was also a skilled seal- carver and calligrapher.
He lived in the HOJUJI Temple in Kawachi (Osaka Prefecture) and Mampukuj i Temple in Uji, near Kyoto. An acquaintance of Heihachiro Oshio, he was arrested and imprisoned when Oshio revolted against the Shogunate in 1837. He died in prison.
