This master Nanga (south China school) painter was a disciple of Aigai Takahisa at Edo. He made intensive study of the works of various painters of the Kinki (around Kyoto and Osaka) and Nagasaki districts and he was soon considered a keen rival of Chokunyii Tanomura, a master painter of that age.
