Akasaka Tadamasa was born in about 1630. Came from Kyoto to Akasaka in Yedo.
Akasaka Tadamasa was born in about 1630. Came from Kyoto to Akasaka in Yedo.
During the Kan-ei Era (1624-43), he came from Kyoto to Akasaka in Yedo. Excelled in the art of iron tempering and casting and created his own style of sword-hilt making. His descendants succeeded to his occupation for eight generations. They included many masters in sword-hilt making, their products being called Akasaka Hilts. Their style is called the Akasaka School.
