Background
Akatsuka Jitoku was born in Tokyo in 1871, in a family in the lacquer-ware business, he learnt this art from his father and drawing from Hisanobu Kano and Hironari Terazaki and paintings at the Hakubakai Society.

Akatsuka Jitoku
Akatsuka Jitoku was a craftsman (lacquer).
Career
In 1927 he was awarded a prize by Japan Fine Arts Association and later was invited to become a judge for the newly founded fine arts section of Imperial Art Exhibition and also a member of Imperial Fine Arts Association. He created Japanese lacquerware based on the Maki-e style.
