A graduate of Tokyo University, where he specialized in pharmacology as well as criminology, he is noted for his research work in penicillin and streptomycin.
Achievements

In the suspected murder case of President Shimoyama of the National Railway Corporation, in 1949, in which expert opinion was divided as to whether it was a murder or suicide, he proposed a new method of determining the time of death by examining the condition of the muscles of the body. He wrote books on pharmacology.
