Iafrate, Al Anthony was born on March 21, 1966 in Dearborn, Michigan, United States.
He started his pro hockey career with the Bellville Bulls 1983-84 He was selected 4th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs that same year Playing defense, he was with the Leafs until 1991 when he was traded to the Washington Capitols. He finished his career with the San Hose Sharks in 1998 because of previous injuries including a torn anterior cruciate ligament in a knee, sciatic nerve damage in his back, and a ruptured appendix. Al played for Team USA in the 1984 Winter Olympics at Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. He had a total of 799 career NHL games over twelve NHL seasons, including 71 playoff games scoring a total of 152 goals and 311 assists for 463 points over his career. He also compiled 1301 penalty minutes.
