She was crowned Femina Mission India in 1978. Prior to joining Femina Mission India she was a lawyer.In 1978, she enter Femina Mission India contest and won the title. She was also declared the winner of Mission Beautiful smile sub-award at the said pageant. She represented India in the Mission Universe 1978 pageant where she won the Best National Costume Award. She was the first Indian woman to win any special award at the Mission Universe pageant. After completing her one year tenure with Femina Mission India she returned to pursue her career as a lawyer
