Career
He played for Shamrock Rovers, Racing de Santander (63 apps 15 goals), Civil Defense Logroñés (32 apps 9 goals), Berchem Sport, Dundee and Forfar Athletic and also played for the Republic of Ireland national football team on three occasions. After joining Santander, AS Roma were reportedly interested in signing him. Campbell made 4 appearances in European competition, scoring once. as well as one Inter-League cap.
He was also the top goalscorer in the 1979-1980 season with 22 goals.
After three years in Spain he turned down a move to Glasgow Celtic to play in Belgium in 1987.
