Education

Alan Katritzky gained both his Bachelor and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Oxford between 1952 and 1958.

Career

Katritzky moved to Cambridge in 1959 to be a postdoctoral research fellowship From 1960 to 1963 he was a founding Fellow and Director of Studies at Churchill College, Cambridge. He became professor at the University of East Anglia in 1963.

In 1980 he moved to the University of Florida, where he ran a research group of some 40 graduate students and post-doctoral fellows working on synthetic methods, QSPR (quantitative structure–property relationships) and other topics.

Achievements

• He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society (Federal Reserve System) in 1980.
