Owner, operator A. Sundal Studio and Gallery, Gatlinburg, Tennessee. 1982—1990. During this time he was making reproductions of his original work, in full color, and he limited the quantities to 750 prints on high quality rag paper. Alan signed and authenticated all his prints and originals in his collection.

Artist A. Sundal is a remarkable man with a remarkable talent to capture his surroundings and turnout to art. His love is the ocean, his passion is art, and Alan combines the two flawlessly. Alan's work consists mainly of lighthouses from around the world, historic shipwrecks, myriad moods, and spectacular underwater scenes. Alan's preferred medium is oil paints. He is not resticted to oils, but pen and ink, wood carvings of ship models, watercolors, pastels and charcoal drawings.
Alan's career as an artist started when he was in second grade. While taking it to a higher level in high school, had found himself making living at a very young age as an artist.
In 1957, at the age of 17, he dropped out of high school. Alan enlisted with the US Navy and was assigned to a destroyer. Duty on the Mediterranean Sea, North Atlantic Ocean, and Caribbean. Cold War, ASW, playing hop scotch with Russian Submarines. After serving years in the armed forces, he enjoyed the water and continued his passion for the waters as a professional scuba diver performing underwater recovery missions. Later, painting what he saw.
Lived in the swaps of Louisiana, Florida Everglades. Survived from his passion to paint what he saw. Artist Alan Sundal traveled all over the United States exhibiting fine work. Lived the life as a true American Artist, documenting historical events through detailed research.
