Albert Carlton Bostwick

Career

Albert Bostwick was one of five children of Mary Lillian Stokes and Albert Carlton Bostwick, Senior His father set early automobile speed records. On the death of his father in 1911, Albert Bostwick, Junior. inherited a sizeable fortune.

Albert Bostwick, Junior. rode horses from a young age and became a successful amateur steeplechase rider in the United States and in England.

In 1937, Albert Bostwick, Junior. married Eleanor P. Sage (1904–2004) with whom he had a son, Albert III. Albert Bostwick, Junior. died in 1980 at age 79 at his home in Westbury, Long Island, New New York

Achievements

• His grandfather, Jabez, was a founder and treasurer of the Standard Oil and a partner of John D. Rockefeller. He also became involved in the sport of Thoroughbred flat racing and is best known as the owner/breeder of Mate, winner of the 1931 Preakness Stakes.

Membership

A member of The Jockey Club, in 1932 he obtained a license to train horses.
