Gleaves, Albert was born on January 1, 1858 in Nashville, Tennessee, United States. Son of Henry Albert and Eliza (Tannehill) Gleaves.

Education

Educated United States Naval Academy.

Career

Commissioned ensign United States Navy, January 1, 1881. Promoted through various grades to rear admiral, July 29, 1915. Temporary vice admiral and admiral World War.

Reverted to rank of rear admiral after the war and later advanced to admiral on the retired list.
