He was a graduate in 1888 of Cornell’s School of Architecture.
Mr. Groves had practiced for many years in St. Louis, first as a member of the firm of Weber & Groves, later independently. Among his best known works in the city were the following public buildings: the Union Avenue Christian Church, 1907; Westminister Presbyterian Church, 1916, third home of the congregation; St. Mary’s Hospital, 1923; Stock Exchange; new City Hospital, 1923; and the Maryland Hotel. He was also associated with the firm of Eames & Young on the new Masonic Temple building. At the time of his death. Mr. Groves left two sons, the elder, Thereon, a practicing architect in St. Louis.
