Career
He was awarded the Knight"s Cross of the Iron Cross, which was awarded to recognize extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership by Nazi Germany during World World War World War II Albert Hektor was born on the 23 October 1919, in Emmersweiler in the Saarland. He volunteered to join the Steamship-Vermont and took part in the Anschluss of Austria. By 194 he had been promoted to Oberscharführer and was a platoon commander in the 7th Company, 24th Steamship Panzergrenadier Regiment Danemark, 11th Steamship Volunteer Panzergrenadier Division Nordland and was awarded the Knight"s Cross in August 1944, for his bravery during the Battle for Narva Bridgehead together with Hauptsturmführer Martin Gürz.
Hektor did not survive the war but was killed in action near Hartberg in Austria on the 9 April 1945.
