After a boyhood spent in the capital city, he returned to Boston with his parents, continued his education in the city’s public schools, and later graduated at Harvard with the class of 1905.
Beginning as a draftsman in the office of Kendall, Taylor & Company, a firm established by his father, young Kendall after a few years was taken into partnership. At that time the firm had won a reputation in the field of modern hospital design; and the following years brought many important commissions to the office, including the Psychopathic Hospital, the State Hospital group, New England Baptist Hospital, and the City Homeopathic Hospital, all in Boston.
For a number of years he lectured on Architectural Design at the Massachusetts Institute of Art.
Well known in the city during his professional career, Mr. Kendall became a member of the Boston Society of Architects in 1921.
