Education high school, Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Graduated from the United States Naval Academy, 1872.

Career

Promoted through grades to rear admiral, October 20, 1910. Retired March 26, 1913.

Served on monitor Amphitrite in Cuban campaign, 1898, and in supply ship Glacier, Philippine campaign.
