Background

Noelte, Albert was born on March 10, 1885 in Starnberg, Bavaria. Son of Hermann and Marie (Schaaf) Noelte.

Education

Came to the United States, 1900. Educated Latin School, N.E. Conservatory, Boston and Munich Universities. Study of music in Munich under Felix Mottl, and Richard Strauss.

Career

Began career as violinist, later composer. Music critic in Boston. Now chairman of the theory department, Northwestern University School of Music.

Director of theory department, Civic Orchestra, Chicago.

    • Composer of songs, piano pieces, a Massachusetts a Suite for Strings and Timpani, a Suite for 26 Wind Instruments and Percussions, a considerable number of symphonic and choral works, and two operas.
