Career

Admitted to bar, 1873. Member of New York Assembly, 1878. Company judge and surrogate, Delaware County, New York, 1889-1899.

Appointed by Governor Roosevelt to fill vacancy, August 1899, and elected November 1899, justice Supreme Court of the New York. Was The American Association For Justice Appellate Division, 2d department, 1900-1901, 3d department, 1907-1912, and 1916-1917. Retired on reaching age limit, January 1, 1918.

Appointed official referee, January 18, 1918. Trustee Cornell Univercity, 1908-1913.
