When aged six, studied the pianoforte under Henry Horn, organist of Saint Paul’s Church, Huddersfield. When nine (1853), pupil of Henry Parratt, and in the same year became organist of the Parish Church of Holmfirth. Resided in Glasgow, 1865-1897.
Held post of Organist there at University, Cathedral, and Saint Andrew’s Hall, et cetera
Presided at the following inaugural Recitals: Crystal Palace, 1882. Liverpool Exhibition, 1886.
Canterbury Cathedral, 1886. Newcastle, 1891; Worcester, 1896.
