Sprague, Albert Tilden was born on March 13, 1898 in Revere, Massachusetts, United States. Son of Albert Tilden and Ella Worcester (Baker) Sprague.


Bachelor of Science, United States Naval Academy, 1918. Master of Science, Harvard, 1925.

Commissioned ensign United States Navy, 1918, and advanced through grades to commodore November, 1945, retired as rear admiral, 1949. Commanded United States Ship Beaver (AS-5) and United States Ship Raleigh (CL7) 1940-1944. Served as chief of staff commander amphibious group 8, 1944-1945.

Commander 5th amphibious force, 1945. Deputy commandant, Armed Forces Staff College, until 1949. Associate professor electrical engineering Auburn (Alabama) U., 1949-1967, professor emeritus, 1967-1968.


Married Ebba Briand, September 15, 1920 (deceased.; married second, Marie Ancona Robertson, June 6, 1940. Children: June Elizabeth, Albert Tilden, Evageline Joy.
