Alberta Gould was born on December 10, 1945 in Skowhegan, Maine, United States. Her parents were Ray O. Dickinson, a woodsman and farmer, and Pedita H. (Fenderson) Dickinson.

Alberta Gould attended high school in Skowhegan, Maine.

Career

Alberta Gould began working as a reading teacher at Bloomfield Elementary School, Skowhegan, Maine in 1986. She enjoys going to schools to talk with students about writing, publishing, and the subjects of her own books. One of her books is "First Lady of the Senate: A Life of Margaret Chase Smith", published in 1989.

Gould also likes to draw blueprints for homes. She has done this for more than twenty-five years. Many of her home designs were built by her late husband, who was a carpenter.
