In 1948 Aldo Locatelli went to Brazil at the invitation of Don Antonio Zattera, bishop of Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul, to paint the Cathedral San Francisco de Paula de Pelotas. At that time he was working in the cathedral of Genoa, Italy.
In 1951, Aldo began to paint the Church of San Pellegrino and finished only in 1960. In 1959, Locatelli painted in the the Cathedral of St. Aloysius Gonzaga a painting of St. Gonzaga - the patron saint of the town.
