Career
Fought in Civil War; 1928-1934 head, Chair of Strategy and Operations Technique, Naval Academy. Advocated equipping Soviet Navy with submarines. By start of VVW 2 commanded Novorossiysk Naval Base.
July-October 1941 commander, Azov Flotilla. Relieved of this post for errors in his work. 1944-1945 commander, Leningrad Naval Base.
Chief of staff, Baltic Fleet.
