Until 1905 lawyer; belonged to right wing of Russian legal profession. During 1905 Revol joined "Right Order” Party but soon resigned and joined "Union of 17 October,” being elected member, Central Committee and co-chairman. Altough reputed to have leftist leanings, he joined the Union majority in supporting Stolypin’s policies.
After 1917 February Revol left politics. After 1917 October Revol returned to political scene, joined Collegium of Counsels for the Defense and defended Purishkevich and others at their trials before Revol tribunals. 1919 fled south, joined General Denikin and fought against Soviet rule.
Then emigrated; 1921 in Prague co-published a collection of political essays entitled Smena vekh (Changing Landmarks) calling on emigres to endorse the Revol. 1923 amnestied after repeated public recantation and returned to Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics to resume legal practice. Became member, Leningrad Collegium of Counsels for the Defense.
