1902 graduate Saint St. Petersburg Theater College under P. K. Karsavina, A. V. Shiryayev and North. G. Legat.
1902-1928 character dancer, Mariinskiy Theater, Saint St. Petersburg. From 1904 instructor, Saint St. Petersburg Theater College. 1914 together with his brother set up his own school.
1918 started work as ballet-master. 1923-1928 director of choreography, Maly Opera Theater and ballet-master, Academy Theater of Drama, Leningrad. 1932-1941 instructor at Moscow Choreographic College.
From 1937 also artistic director, Pedagogical Department of above college. Roles: Conrad in Adane and Pugny’s 'The Corsair”. Gringoire and Quasimodo in "Esmeralda”.
