From 1898 taught singing at Zhitomir high schools. From 1909 associate professor Chair of Musical Theory and History, Saint St. Petersburg Institute of Music.
Music critic; after 1917 October Revol inspector, Kiev and Khar’kov opera houses. Worked for Ukraine People's Commissariat of Education. Associate professor, Khar’kov Institute of Music and Drama.
1928 organized Musical Department at Centr Sciences Library, Ukraine Academy of Sciences. 1928-1938 headed this library and collected a large stock of musical scores.
