Studied at a village school, at Oryol Theological Seminary, and at Demidovo Lyceum.
Conducted revol work among students. Spring 1884 represented Yaroslavl’ revol circle at a Narodnaya Volya (People's Will) conference in Saint St. Petersburg. 1885 helped publish periodical Narodnaya Volya.
1888 exiled to Siberia. While en route to exile involved in Tyumen' in a fight between political prisoners and guards, was arraigned and sentenced to six months' imprisonment. 1892 returned to Russia and, together with Natanson and Tyutchev, set up Narodnoye pravo (People's Right) party.
1896 again exiled to Verkholensk, East Siberia, for five years. 1902 joined Socialist-Revol Party and worked in its organizations in the Caucasus and in southern Russia. 1905 left Voronezh to attend a Party congress in Finland but was arrested at the railroad station and exiled for three years to Narym.
1906 on medical grounds permitted to leave Russia, went abroad and worked for Party Central Committee. 1909 returned to Russia. After 1917 February Revol was chairman, Soviet of Rayon Dumas.
1923 became active member, Association of Polit Prisoners and Deportees.
Member, Socialist-Revol Party from 1902.
