1901-1902 worker in Batumi, where he became acquainted with Marxist ideology. After demonstrations in Batumi went to Baku, joined the Russian Social-Democratic Workers’ Party and participated in BakuSabunchi workers’ campaigns. 1904, after the discovery of an illegal printing press, went to Tiflis.
1905 founded terrorist battle-groups and participated in partisan activities. 1907 headed Party work in Borzhom-Akhaltsikh Rayon. 1908 arrested and exiled to Chelyabinsk Uyezd but escaped en route and fled to Chelyabinsk, where he worked with underground Bolshevik faction.
To avoid arrest returned to Mingrclia, organized first Mingrclian Bolshevik circles. 1910 arrested and exiled to Don Oblast. Escaped again and conducted underground work in Rostov, then in Poltava.
Exiled to Astrakhan’ Province. After 1917 February Revol moved to Georgia Helped found Kutaisi Bolshevik Bureau.
1918 elected chairman, military staff, West Geo Party Committee. Repeatedly arrested for staging Bolshevik revolts in West Georgia Summer 1918 insurrectional work in Terek Province.
1919 wounded and lost right legal After some time went to Tiflis. Arrested and exiled from Georgia
1921, after the establishment of Soviet regime in Geo, continued revol work in Geo Soviet Socialist Republic. 1921-1922 chairman, Tiflis City Revol Committee. 1922-1923 Geo People's Commissar of Internal Affairs and deputy chairman, Geo Council of People's Commissar.
1924-1928 Geo People's Commissar of Agric and deputy chairman, Geo Council of People's Commissar.
