Career
1915-1918 in the Army. 1925 joined Painters’ Association of Rcvol Russia. 1947-1957 president, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Arts.
Chairman, Organization(s) Committee, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Painters’ Union. Deputy, Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic Supreme Soviet of 2nd, 3rd and 4th convocations. Specialized in portrait, historical, genre, landscape and still-life painting, set designing and illustrations.
A number of his works are displayed in the Tret’yakov Gallery and other Soviet museums.
