Assistant to la. Protazanov. Specialized in classical adaptations, such as Punin iBaburin and TriPorireia(both Turgenev short stories), 1919, Komediantka (based on an N. Leskov story), 1923, Dvorels i Kreposl’ (based on an Olga Forsh novel), 1924, and Iudushka Golovlev (M. Saltykov-Shchedrin).
