KRICHEVSKIY, Aleksandr was born in 1896.
1919 graduate Medical Faculty, Kiev University.
From 1919 intern, Centr Skin and Venerological Polyclinic, Kiev. 1924-1937 head Dermatological Department, 1937-1956 director, Ukraine Skin and Venerological Institute. 1926, together with Z. I. Sinel’nikov, obtained rat cancer strain by grafting malignant melanomas from humans.
From 1930 head of a chair, Khar’kov Institute of Postgraduate Medical Training. Helped to organize and supervise campaign against venereal and skin diseases in Ukraine. Devised etiological and pathogenic classification of dermatosis.
Did research on the role of sensitization and viruses in the pathogenesis and etiology of various skin diseases. 1939 achieved immunoprophylaxis of Brown-Pcarcc cancer in rabbits. Introduced bipolar electrocoagulation treatment for skin cancer and devised complex treatment for occupational pyodermia.
Also developed original penicillin immunotherapy. Was one of first Soviet sci to describe and obtain a culture of the agent of Reuter’s disease (an infection involving polyarthritis, urethritis and conjunctivitis). Also introduced radioactive phosphorus treatment for dermatosis.
Wrote over 120 works.
