1922 graduate Smolensk Branch, Moscow Archeological Institute. Also graduate Historical Department, Smolensk University.
Assistant professor, Archeological Section, then associate professor, Smolensk University and associate, Smolensk State Museum. From 1927 worked for Institute of Belorussian Culture, then Belorussian Academy of Sciences, Minsk. Simultaneously lecturer, Belorussian University and head, Archeological Department, Belorussian State Museum.
During 1920's supervised systematic research on archeological relics in Belorussian ranging from the Paleolithic to the early Middle Ages, including the ancient cities of Polotsk, ZaslavT, Vitebsk, and Orsha and settlements near Smolensk. Also supervised the compilation of an archeological map of Belorussian. Hypothesized that the settlements of Centr Belorussian belonged to the ancient Baltic tribes.
From 1931 sci secretary, then head, Archeological Section Institute of History, Belorussian Academy of Sciences 1934 began research for an outline history of per-class soc in Belorussian. 1937 arrested by People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs and sentenced to a long term in a concentration camp.
