From 1870 intern, South.P. Botkin's Clinic. 1882 defended doctor’s thesis on the inhibitory effect of atropine, morphium and chloral hydrate on the secretion of gastric juices and the excitation of the sensory nerves. 1883-1885 senior intern, Alexandrine (now Botkin) Barrack Hospital.
1885-1890 chief physician, Obukh Women's Hospital. 1890—1922 chief physician, Obukh Men's Hospital. 9 January 1905 ordered the staff of the Obukh Hospital to treat demonstrators injured in the “Bloody Sunday” massacre.
Made major contribution to the organisation and development of hospitals in Saint St. Petersburg, notably the Obukh Hospital, which he directed for 37 years, malting it a major center of postgraduate medical training for physicians from all parts of Russia. Introduced the system of assistant professorships in hospitals. After 1917 October Revol worked on various commissions of Petrograd Health Department.
Did research on subjects on the borderline between therapy and surgery and on the treatment of infectious diseases involving damage to the intestinal tract. Together with Associate of Arts Tropyanov performed first successful operation in Russia for a ruptured typhoid appendix. From 1921 co-founder and first chairman, Botkin Therapeutic Social.
