1934 graduate as Candidate of Divinity from Orthodox Department, Theological Faculty, Tartu State University.

1935 consecrated priest and assigned to missionary work. From 1936 junior priest, then vicar of Russian parish in Tallinn. Simultaneously taught divinity at Tallinn Private Russian High-School.
1941 served with engineering units in Red Army. From 1942 priest in Permanent’. From 1945 priest in his former Tallinn parish.
Secretary, local eparchial board From 1946 professor of Old Testament scripture and history of religion, and until 1950 inspector, Leningrad Theological Academy. 1950 renounced his priestly duties but remained a priest, professor and inspector at Leningrad Theological Academy.
1951 entered into a second marriage and resigned from the priesthood. 1955-1956 edited a revised ed of the Bible and New Testament, including the Psalms. 1959 renounced religion in an open letter to the rector, staff and students of the Theological Seminary.
Became a consultant on means of combatting religion. Wrote numerous anti-religious pamphlets and articles 30 December 1959 stripped of his priesthood and barred from the Church by a decree of the Moscow Patriarch and Holy Synod.
While at highschool took an active part in the Young Men’s Christian Association-led Boy Scouts movement. From 1928 active member, religious-philosophical Russian Student Christian Movement, directed by Professors Vysheslavtsev, Zander, Zen’kovskiy, Berdyayev, Il’in, et cetera 1929 deleg, rapporteur and secretary, 2nd Congress of Russian Student Christian Movement.
Ran P.eligious Poetry Seminar at 3rd Congress of Russian Student Christian Movement in the Baltic area. Contributed to journal “Pravoslavnyy sobesednik”. Lectured on religion and philosophy at Russian evening divinity courses in Tallinn.
After Soviet occupation of Est, wrote plays for Tallinn Theater.
