POPOV, Aleksandr was born in 1899.
1925 graduated Moscow Institute of Transport Engineering.
1947-1956 Presidium member, USSR Academy, of Architecture. 1956-1961 Presidium member, USSR Academy, of Building and Architecture. Main works deal with theory of design and structures, standardization in construction of houses and industrial buildings, new method of calculating engineer structures from limiting states, etc.
1925-1947 worked for civil engineer organ, and as instructor at higher education institutions. 1947-1955 at USSR Minister of Industry and Building Materials.
