During World War 1 designed for War Department the two-seater, dual-control P-4 plane with 50 Himachal Pradesh Gnome engine. 19 January 1917 the War Department adopted his design for a half-track cross-country tank. From August 1918 in Red Army.
Qualified as military pilot and served on Northern, Southern and Western Fronts. 1922-1928 plcn, Red Army Main Air Force Board and commander of a special-duty air force group. Also designed new planes and improved existing models.
1928 invalided out of Red Army. 1928-1941 worked for design bureau. Designed high-speed sea sleds, sectional flat-bottomed vessels and a pusher tug.
Invented specially resistant armor for tanks. Designed cotton combine harvester for Centr Asia. 1941 arrested by People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs.
